A note from the editor (in retirement)

3957522743_2af24c0ef9 I took my coffee cup home. The one with the "E" on it in fancy cursive.

E is for Elizabeth. And Editor.

E is also for Economy. A bad one. The type of economy that has really high unemployment rates. The type of economy you shouldn't quit your job in. (Unless you're a complete ninny, or me.)

Never used that coffee cup with the E on it. It's what you call an office "looking piece" cause its curvitures aren't conducive for mug hugging.

I hope you mug hug.

Took my coffee cup home because I knew it was time to start packing things up one by one.

When you've packed things up as often as I well, you just become more expert at knowing.

E is for Expert. At knowing. But somehow not expert at caring less.

Leaving Midtown Kansas City and packing up for Nashville, Tennesee has been one of the hardest decisions I've had to make in my 23 years on this good earth.

I might be a bit biased–but I don't think I am–when I say that this has been the best job in the world, next to doing the one thing I was made to do . . .

Which is writing songs in my basement and then singing them to my mom and dad and maybe whoever else wants to hear them.

The good news is that I'll also be staying on as a consultant and doing some free-lance editorial stuff, which is a nice way of saying that Bruce wants to make sure starving artists (me) can still eat.

Dear House and friends,

I am your number one fan. And don't ever forget it.

I'll miss you so.

E is also for Empty. Which is how my heart feels when I think of losing the privilege of working beside you every day. Thanks, Elizabeth. For sharing this season of your life with me. I’ll always remember. Mom

Big E, Little E, what begins with E? Ear, Egg, Elephant, E…E…E! No wait, wrong book.
E is for Ecstatic. Happiness isn’t a word that does it justice, I mean, to see one’s life dream coming true. Watching God “speak” through clearly opening doors for you is something that makes the spirtual heart “strangly warm” inside. And then He has to go make it funny by literally shoving you through those doors. So God.
E is also for Ergo. Ergo, or therefore, Liz bravely steps forward into the murky, semiopaque future with 20/20 vision. Knowing all the while that her future is in the Most Capable Hands.
Your biggest fan and pep squad leader.

    Tim,
And speaking of Big E little E, word on the street is that you’ll be needing to brush up on Dr. Seuss for your new little one :) Woohoo congratulations!!!
Also, I can’t even begin to tell you how thankful I am for your support with music. It’s voices like yours that encourage me through in the “murky semiopaque.” And to that end, it’s extra murky in nashville. So please be expecting frantic musician phone calls (or I suppose I can just send my mom down the hall)
Thanks again, friend. This stuff is what makes it worth it.

    Mum,
Stop making me cry. You always make me cry. In a good way. In the way that makes me happy to be a daughter. And happy to be an INTP. And happy to smell my hair and put ice in my milk. In that kind of way.
    I’ll always remember too.
