Real Me Experiment

I have poor vision.
And when I say poor, I’m not talking about the “poor vision” most people I know have where objects 100 yards away get a little blurry. Or the “poor vision” my close friend has that enabled her to get these vintage frames she’d wanted that are half the size of her face. When I say “poor vision,” I mean if I take out my contacts before I locate my glasses at night I’m in trouble. Poor. My eyes become useless about 6 inches away from my face.
So I wear contacts. And have glasses. Notice I didn’t say I wear glasses. That’s because the only time my glasses are on my face is when i walk from the bathroom to my bedroom each night. That’s it. I don’t walk out of the house with them on. And I would never let someone take a picture of me sporting my coke bottles.
But glasses are part of the unglamorous me. Real. No make-up. Poor vision.
The reason you all get to see a photo of me in glasses is because I follow Mike Foster on Twitter. And Anne Jackson. (But we’re not BFF’s like Scott and Anne are.) I noticed this week both of them, and a few others, had changed their profile pics. A snap shot of what they really look like. No make-up. No Photoshop. Just them. Actually, I don’t think Mike Foster wears make-up, but you get the point.
Turns out Mike of POTSC is challenging people to replace their glamor shot profile pictures with a shot that is real. And since the only pictures most of you have seen of the staff at The House Studio are professional pictures we had taken for our bios, we decided to share our “real photos” with all of you. (I’m not sure Bruce understood the assignment.)
So here we are. No lighting. No photshop. No crazy wigs… well two out of three isn’t bad.
