A Valentine’s Day 180

I no longer believe Valentine’s Day is the most pointless of all holidays. The obvious answer for why I’ve changed my mind is that I had a valentine this year for the first time in several years.  But I’d like to think that my being in a relationship isn’t the only reason for this change.

I’ve come to believe that the romantic love from another person is a really lovely God-given gift—not a right we’re entitled to but a gift we receive and give back in return.  But this kind of love isn’t the only kind I celebrated this Valentine’s Day. I found in my mailbox on Saturday the Valentine’s Day card I’ve come to expect each year from my parents (but really my mom—aren’t moms wonderful?). I smiled at the card and the note inside. And I knew I was loved. So even without the movie tickets to the chick flick, the delicious dinner out, and the lovely flowers, I think I would’ve felt loved this year.

Whether you had a valentine this past Sunday or not, I hope it was a blessed day filled with love.

So I changed my mind about Valentine’s Day. It wasn’t a life-altering change, but it did change my perspective on celebrating and being thankful for many types of love on that one day.

Christians change their minds every day–from the authors of 180 to each of us here at the House to all of you. Have any of you changed your mind about something recently? We’d love to hear about it whether it’s been a life-changing shift or something a bit lighter.

Tricia told us you had a blog today so Dad and I just checked it. We really do love all of you girls, not one better than the other. You are each unique in your own ways, the way that God created you; that's why we love each of you in your own special way, including Rudy! We love him, too……and Charly!…….and "Lillie"! Have a great day and week! See you in April….or May!
