God Has Answered

No. More. Snow. Longer days. Running (outside) weather. Thunderstorms. Easter. One season closer to the return of football.
I could go on and on regarding why I welcome spring each year. This year has one important difference though.
This spring I’ll become an aunt.
Before a few years ago I’d honestly never been all that impressed with “the miracle of life.” It seemed rather simple, really. A woman gets pregnant and has a child.
Then my dear sister and brother-in-law had a miscarriage. And another. And a third. And every time, their hearts and the hearts of our entire family broke a little more. Already questioning my faith, every time, my doubts of the existence of a good and loving God increased.
But this time is different. Yesterday, my sister reached her 37th week of pregnancy. My niece is now considered full term. She could arrive any day now. Remember the blog I wrote a few months ago about the tangible appearances of God just when I needed them? During winter, those reminders appeared in the form of strangers and landlords helping me dig my car out of snow.
I don’t think it’s coincidence that this spring, when all is new, the tangible reminder for my family and me of God’s existence, of God’s faithfulness, of God’s love, is a promise of new life after despair.
When I get the call, I’ll hop into my car and race against time to meet the baby who is hope. And beauty. And the love of a good God.

I think God loves reminding us of these things.
This is incredible. Thank you for sharing….
Kristen, you got your momma crying again….only these are happy, God-given/daughter-given tears! I love you so much.
