About The House Studio
We publish. Not because this world needs more books. Not because the Church needs more resources. We publish because God is still telling stories.
Based in Midtown Kansas City, we’re a group of folks who want to tell the stories of a missional God who is both the sent and sending one—and who invites us to participate with him in the world.
The House Studio seeks to create, comment on, and shape the Church’s ongoing conversation—taking seriously good stories and making them available to faith communities.
We’ve done away with the traditional models of publishing—you know, throwing out a product and hoping it sticks. Instead, we are in partnership with people that are in the midst of the missional movement so we can provide content and resources for the people of God.
We want to be available to talk, answer questions or just say hello, so feel free to contact us night or day.
Chris Folmsbee
Chris is originally from New York, a fact he manages to hide pretty well until you cut him off on the interstate. He spent some time in the Navy but found that he didn’t have enough tattoos to really fit in. Chris’s mild-mannered wife, Gina, is proof that opposites attract, and when life gets too busy, the consistently wacky comments and jokes from his three kids help him remember to laugh, chill out, and slow down.
Scott Lee
Though a native midwesterner Scott still considers himself a Left Coast Punk. Well, as much as someone who has a wife and adorable baby girl and is surrounded by land can be considered LCP. We’re pretty sure he spends his free time running barefoot and poo-pooing others’ musical tastes. But that’s OK, we know he means well. Besides, what else can you expect from the guy who speaks “nerd talk” and plays table tennis?
Kristen Allen
Kristen is already planning her retirement in Europe. Except for the whole saving money portion. If her wallet and jeans would allow it, she’d eat Chipotle burritos everyday. She loves watching the Indianapolis Colts, especially when they win. She has no qualms about going to movies alone but would much prefer to spend entire weekends with her favorite people—her sisters and brother-in-law.
Eddie Garlich
Eddie was born in Kansas City, which explains his love for BBQ and the Kansas City Chiefs. He spends most of his time with his awesome hot wife, Carmen, and three children, Ellie, Eva, and baby Eddie. Eddie was a pastor to students for nearly twelve years, which explains why he is bald and getting grey hair. He loves good stories and connecting with people who can tell them.
Brad Brisco
Brad has been a “Kansan” all his life and, along with his family, loves, loves, loves living in Kansas City. He was in the restaurant business for thirteen years before God shifted his entrepreneurial spirit in the direction of church planting. He has spent the past dozen years assisting church planters, encouraging existing churches to participate more fully in God’s mission, and writing on the missional “thang” at Missional Church Network.
Lance Ford
Lance hails from the Republic of Texas. Having pastored for over twenty years, the last several years have had him involved in coaching and overseeing church planting and missional stuff in several arenas. His book, Right Here, Right Now: Everyday Mission For Everyday People, was co-authored with Alan Hirsch. Lance (along with Brad Brisco) is the co-founder of the Sentralized Gathering.
